If you grew up Italian, you'll love this book. Anita, the overweight young wife and mother is the main character but the cast of characters is what makes it interesting. My favorite one is the demon mason. Anita's grandfather, Nino, came to the United States from Italy when he was sixteen. He became a mason's helper. The mason, with no ass of course, refers to Nino as a stupid somona bitch....you'd only understand if you're Italian. This was a quick read and brought back many memories of my grandparents, parents and my childhood. I also learned some interesting facts about obesity and how our society has turned many of us into inactive beings. I want to thank James Pavoldi for for just being "him."
Ladies grab your favorite drink, get comfy in your lounge chair because you won't want to put it down! Follow the protagonist Anita as she goes from the belittled overweight wife to the desired beauty of a handsome Italian hunk. You will love the cast of characters Jim has created to help Anita on her path of discovery as she realizes just how beautiful she is both inside and out! If you are Italian American you will identify with many of the colloquialisms we grew up hearing from our parents and grandparents Jim has peppered throughout the book! Single ladies - your hopes will rise as you once again believe there is a wonderful (and handsome) man waiting to love you and only you! Guys if you want some insight on a woman's heart you may want to read it too!
Descriptive, witty, heart warming and an easy read - pick one up you'll be glad you did! Knights in shining armor mounted on white steeds really do show up just when we need them! Who knew?
One of my favorite books of all time. A and delightful tale that I found inspirational and entertaining. Worth checking out.
Heroes abound throughout No Fat Knights. An incredible read that marries the story of a hard working woman, with vital information in the fight against obesity. Sir Arthur Kensington, Angelo, and Dom are all Knights in Shining Armor! This is a page turner, so get ready to put some things on hold and enjoy! Salute James Pavoldi!
