This book was good but I've read better I hope people stop bullying it's hard I should know. It's stopped now as I've moved schools but every yard time I would walk around the yard saying to myself " it's okay jazzy why would you want to play with them anyway,?" Idiots if they saw me now one of the most popular girls in the school..... ha ha ha
A book about Mandy White, a 10 year old girl that looks like she's 8. She meets Tanya across the street. Tanya has horrible roots but that doesn't effect the girls' friendship. Mandy becomes alarmed when her and Tanya go shopping and Tanya shoplifts. Once Tanya gets caught they try to run away. Tanya and Mandy get caught while Tanya is trying to catch Mandy. Tanya tells the police that Mandy is innocent so they let Mandy go. Tanya ends up going to Juvenile Hall.
This is my all-time favorite book, EVERYONE SHOULD READ IT!!!

Bad Girls is about mummy's girl Mandy and foster child Tanya, and the adventures they get up to together.
I really enjoyed reading bad girls. It takes you a couple of chapters to get into the book but when you do you cant put it down! Some parts of Bad Girls are sad some funny and some happy. The illustrations really help you get into the book and help you understand the atmosphere. I would highly recommend Bad Girls for Jacqueline Wilson fans and even to people who haven't read any of her books!

Being 10 has not been easy for Mandy White. It's bad enough she has to waar her hair in braids and her mom picks out her clothes. Now, Kim has emerged as the most popular girl in class, and has stolen Mandy's former best friend Sarah. The only person who seems to care is Authur King, but a boy? When an unfortunate and embarassing accident forces mandy to stay home for a few days, she notices a new girl in the neighborhood. This girls doesn't have to wear baby clothes, she wears heels and shorts and cropped tops and has spikey hair and wears makeup. The two girls form an unlikely friendship. The combination of Mandy and Tanya provides both girls with new insights, and strengths, and helps them face some of the challenges in their lives. This is a great book for the pre-teen agegroup.
I recommend that parents read this with their kids (esp younger readers, eg, my daughter is 8yo but loves Jacqueline Wilson books) rather than leaving them to read on their own. It contains a few confronting issues, eg, references to a parent's suicide and drug abuse, that may need a little explaining. Otherwise, i think it is a really valuable book - not only enjoyable for kids but brings up some really pertinent issues for young people, eg, bullying and friendship, the importance of not judging people, dealing with 'uncool' parents etc etc. There are a lot of kids like Tanya and Mandy out there and books like this are helpful in giving a better sense of the complexity of their situations. I also liked the way Mandy's mother was portrayed, ie, her character displayed a level of complexity not normally found in books for this age group.
This is a great fun read with a couple of serious sides. Mandy is ten, small for her age, and gets teased in school by some bigger girls including one girl she'd thought was her friend. We all had this happen to us, or know it happened to someone, right? Mandy can cope until the girls pick on her parents for being older than most parents. That's just not fair.

Then a slightly older girl called Tanya moves in across the road. She's really cool and a bit tough with short spiky hair, and she doesn't tease Mandy for having plaits. In fact she's fun to be around. But Mandy's mum is worried that Tanya will be a bad influence on young Mandy. You never know what a girl like that might get up to, or what trouble she'll get into someday. What will happen to the friends?

The twin issues of peer pressure and bullying are well dealt with and we see that it's not just Mandy who has problems. This is a really difficult age to live through and young people are all looking for role models and friends. Reading this exciting adventure may help some young adults to understand their own lives better. The frequent cartoon drawings put a smile on your face even during the worrying pages.
I would recommend this book to older readers. It is a relatively short book but still covers some mature subjects such as bullying and shop lifting. I think it was a good book, but I would give it 3 stars because it has a drop off ending. I would like to know what happened to Tanya and the bullies. Overall I think this is a good book.
