There are things I really enjoyed in this book but that said, the storyline isn't tight and it's obvious enough that it's something that really ended up bothering me. For example, when Ridley gets into a car accident with Drew, Bo is the one to call the ambulance. He tells Ridley to tell the first responders that she was the one who called the accident in. The thing is, the first responders would know that a male called the accident in (not to mention that he would have had to give his name but that's a moot point considering) and they would have questioned Ridley as to who or where the missing man was since she was the only conscious party on the scene (Drew was unconscious the entire time) but this glitch was not discussed. Another example: when Trinity pulls a nasty stunt on Ridley, Ridley thinks to herself something to the effect that, "she knew Trinity was mean but she had no idea she was capable of doing something THAT terrible." But then several chapters later when Ridley is thinking back about that event, her thought process is a complete 180. When Ridley is looking back on that "stunt", she remembers the stunt as being mild. It's these types of disconnects that pulled me out of the story and it happens many times in this book. The end result is a storyline that lacks attention to detail and it makes it feel contrived at times. There were also a moderate amount of typos. Better editing would have prevented both these problems to the betterment of what is otherwise a very good story.

As an aside, I really didn't like the heroine, but I didn't knock stars for this. She was borderline tstl. She was extremely reactive/volatile in unfair ways and I often felt sorry for Bo in the early parts of this story because of her. She also often has to have things really spelled out for her to understand a concept and that got old. I want a heroine I can really stand behind but Ridley is more like the friend you have who you call friend but are often annoyed with and you wouldn't lose sleep over it if she moved to another town.

One final note...I was once told that if anyone ever tells you they're no good for you (Bo does this to Ridley, often), take it at face value and run far, far away. I wish I had been given that advice much earlier in my life than I had. It would have saved me a terrible relationship or two over the years and a lot of dumb/immature shenanigans. I think for some people this character flaw makes for a great hero but it tends to be a turn off for me.

The bottom line? I really think this book needs to go through another draft or two of editing. That said, I believe in the storyline enough that I'm going to continue on with book two. Hopefully some of the problems I mentioned above will get ironed out as the story progresses. Recommended, but with reservations.

From the first sentence M. Leighton sucks you right in. You do go in thinking it is probably another Twilight knockoff but then you find out how so wrong you are. Ridley Heller is nothing like Bella Swan. But Bo does make you swoon like Edward Cullen. ) This is a whole new twist to vampires that will keep you enthralled.

I enjoyed reading this book and can't wait to see what is in store for Ridley and Bo. You are left with so many unanswered questions and a sad ending, which makes you want to jump right into the next book in the series. I'm so glad that I found this series when it was done instead of having to wait long excruciating months for the next.

Why the 4 Star Rating? Only because I felt Bo was a little distant in this book and wished we had gotten to see him and Ridley get to know each other better. And because honestly, all they did was make out most of the time. With that said, I still enjoyed it!

This is my second book from Ms. Leighton and completely opposite of her contemporary masterpiece, Fragile, which makes you realize that she has the amazing talent of crafting Contemporary Romance as well as Paranormal Romance.

If you want to read a new twist on Vampires and romance, pick up this book!
